Become a Paws4Life Volunteer

Every rescue begins with someone who is willing to help.

​

Paws4Life is a volunteer-run, 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to rescuing homeless and abandoned dogs and cats and transporting them to trusted rescue partners where they can continue their journey to forever homes.

​

We don't operate a shelter. Every rescue depends on volunteers who help us prepare animals for transport, support our foster network, organize events, and keep our mission moving forward.

Whether you can volunteer a few hours a month or several days each week, there's a place for you on our team.

Volunteer Opportunities

🚐 Transport Preparation

Help prepare animals for scheduled transports by:

  • Loading crates

  • Organizing paperwork

  • Preparing transport supplies

  • Helping with transport day check-in

  • Assisting with loading animals safely

🐾 Foster Support

Support our foster families by:

  • Delivering food and supplies

  • Transporting animals to veterinary appointments

  • Assisting with short-term boarding when needed

🩺 Veterinary Appointment Assistance

Help support our rescue animals by:

  • Transporting animals to and from veterinary appointments

  • Helping with check-in and paperwork

  • Picking up medications or medical supplies when needed

  • Providing extra hands for animals recovering from appointments

🎉 Community Events & Fundraisers

Represent Paws4Life at:

  • Community festivals

  • Pet expos

  • Fundraising events

  • Donation drives

  • Educational outreach events

Help set up, greet visitors, answer questions, sell merchandise, or collect donations.

📦 Donation & Supply Organization

Help us:

  • Organize donated supplies

  • Sort food and medical supplies

  • Prepare foster kits

  • Load supplies for transport

📱 Administrative & Social Media

Help behind the scenes by:

  • Answering emails

  • Responding to messages

  • Updating social media

  • Photographing rescue animals

  • Writing stories and creating content

  • Assisting with data entry

  • Assisting pet owners during scheduled distributions

What Makes a Great Volunteer?

You don't need rescue experience.

We simply ask that our volunteers are:

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience?

No. We'll provide guidance and match you with opportunities that fit your interests and experience.

How often do I need to volunteer?

There is no minimum requirement. Volunteer when your schedule allows. Every hour helps.

Do I have to handle animals?

Not at all. We have many volunteer opportunities that don't involve handling dogs or cats.

Where do volunteers help?

Most volunteer opportunities are in the Shreveport, Bossier City, and surrounding areas, with occasional events throughout Northwest Louisiana and East Texas.

Can I volunteer with friends or family?

Yes! Many of our events, donation drives, and community programs are perfect for families, friends, church groups, schools, student groups, and community organizations.

Schools can also get involved through our North Shore Animal League America school program, giving students an opportunity to learn about animal welfare, responsible pet care, and ways they can make a difference for animals in their community.

Before every transport, there's a tremendous amount of work happening behind the scenes—from preparing medical records and organizing supplies to supporting foster homes and coordinating transport logistics.
